The fastest Maserati ever produced, the stunning MC12 debuted at the 2004 Geneva International Motor Show and was built in a special run of just 50 “Stradale” road cars from 2004 to 2005. Closely based on the Ferrari Enzo, the MC12 returned Maserati to international FIA-sanctioned GT racing, with 12 built for competition. Underneath its dramatically styled and aerodynamically functional carbon fiber bodywork, the MC12 was based upon a stress-bearing carbon fiber and Nomex honeycomb chassis.
Power was delivered by the Ferrari-Maserati M144A V-12 engine—a slightly modified version of that found in the Ferrari Enzo—mid-mounted and rated at 630 HP, paired with a 6-speed “Cambiocorsa” automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. Other cutting-edge features included a lightweight aluminum crankcase and titanium connecting rods. Handling the MC12’s formidable power and performance are an independent front and rear wishbone suspension with anti-dive and anti-squat geometries, with stopping provided by Brembo cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners. An initial 25-car production batch of MC12 “Stradale” road models was completed in 2004.
Following a change in FIA regulations, reducing maximum length, another 25 MC12s came in 2005, now measuring 150mm shorter than before. The MC12 entered competition in late 2004, winning the FIA GT race held at the Zhuhai International Circuit. While the MC12 was entered into the 2005 American Le Mans Series, it exceeded size restrictions and suffered penalties due to its excess fuel range. Finished in Bianco Fuji and Blu Victory over Blu leather with silver/gray Brightex upholstery, this extremely rare Italian supercar’s odometer reads just 515 kilometers at the time of writing.
One of the second batch of 25 shorter units produced in 2005, this electrifying MC12 is EPA-certified and offered on a Washington State title.
