This late production Series 2 is a 1.8S optioned in 'Touring' specification and strikingly presented in Ardent Red.
Lightness, responsiveness and manoeuvrability were the watchwords guiding the Elise project. A benchmark in the world of 'Light is right' was born. A fibreglass body on an epoxy-bonded aluminium chassis, a four-cylinder engine in a central rear position, a spartan yet comfortable interior - all for the benefit of driving sensations, even more than for pure performance. 2001 saw the launch of the second-generation Elise. Slightly heavier at 710kg, it offered a more qualitative presentation to appeal to a wider customer base and from 2004, the S2 adopted the new Toyota 1.8-litre 2ZZ-GE naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder offering 134bhp and 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds.
Dating from 2010, this striking S2 1.8S is presented in Ardent Red with a black, lift-out roof panel and black wheels. It's finished in 'Touring' specification which included extra sound insulation, full carpet, electric windows and other creature comforts making this B-road blaster a bit more GT. Mostly serviced at Lotus Silverstone with some specialist stamps with the most recent being on 24/6/2024 at 27,490 miles. Our vendor has recently enjoyed this little Lotus on a continental tour for which it proved remarkably suitable.
