The Lincoln Premiere made its debut in 1956. The car was offered in three different body styles two-door hardtop coupe, four-door sedan and two-door convertible, all of which offered passenger seating for six. The 1956 Lincoln Premiere hardtop coupe was recognized by the Industrial Designers Institute with an award for excellence in automotive design. Similar to its Ford counterparts, the 1956 Lincolns focused on safety features including improved door latches, deep dish steering wheel, and extra padded door panels and seatbacks. 1956 marked the year that Lincoln made the switch from six to twelve volt electrical systems. The first-generation Lincoln Premiere was produced until 1957.
