This 1978 Continental Mark V has been driven an astoundingly low 922 original miles. Yes, nine hundred twenty-two. It is the lowest mile and best preserved Mark V you are likely to find available anywhere. The car presents as-new throughout, from the pristine, glove-soft leather upholstery, immaculate woodgrain, and near-perfect carpets, to the totally factory original paint, vinyl roof, unmarked original wheels wearing their factory original tires – even the engine bay still bears all the original yellow pencil markings, stamps and stickers from the factory assembly line!
This Mark V was bought new at Tom Barros Spokane Lincoln Mercury by a Lincoln enthusiast in Spokane, Washington who added it to her small Lincoln collection so that she could have one of the last cars to be powered by the iconic 460 CI V-8. A prized possession right off the showroom floor, the car remained very sparingly used, reserved for short trips on the most special of occasions, with her other Lincoln, a Mark III, filling ‘regular’ church-going and business-lunching duties.
The car passed to the original owner’s children in her estate, and they kept it carefully stored inside a plastic bubble inside her climate controlled garage until 2013, when the time has come to sell the house and to give the Lincoln a new home. The car has been professionally checked over to ensure that it runs and drives properly, including pulling the fuel tank for cleaning, rebuilding the carburetor, and changing the fluids. But it should be reiterated that the tires, while in superb, supple, new-appearing condition, are in fact factory original to the car.
Included with purchase are the original warranty card, the owner’s manual and warranty booklet, the original Michelin tire guide, complete owner history, the original dealer Ming Finish paper floor mat, and the pristine Ford Quadrasonic Sound 8-track demonstration cassette.
