Unveiled in 1994 as the successor to the original Range Rover Classic, the second generation P38A ushered in a new era of refinement and capability. While retaining the upright, purposeful stance that defined its predecessor, the new model introduced far greater comfort, technology, and sophistication, making it as at home in Mayfair as it was in the Highlands. Powered by Land Rover’s 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 214bhp and mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with low-range gearing and switchable drive modes, the P38 combined its traditional off-road strengths with effortless on-road comfort.
This particular P38 may well be an unrepeatable example, having covered a mere 8,136 miles from new at the time of cataloguing. It's finished in Rioja Red with a classic Range Rover interior featuring seating in Lightstone leather, polished wood veneers and mushroom carpets and was generously specified from new with side steps, an electric sunroof, heated and electrically adjustable front seats with two-position driver’s memory, a multifunction steering wheel, cruise-control, dual zone climate-control, height-adjustable air suspension, satellite navigation, and a Harman/Kardon sound system with radio-cassette and a boot-mounted CD autochanger.
