When it was introduced in mid-2021, the 2022 Land Rover Defender X-Dynamic SE Camel Trophy Edition sought to celebrate the colorful and storied partnership shared by Camel Trophy and Land Rover. They were wrapped in yellow and black Camel Trophy livery and special badging was installed. Each of the 220 made were based on the 110 P400. With just 220 produced, and a sticker price starting at $90,000, just 90 buyers had the opportunity to enter as two-person teams in the Trophy Competition scheduled on October 11, 2022 at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.
It was a well-received commemorative edition, as the 220 sold out quickly with the 90 slots filling up so well that Land Rover issued another Camel Trophy Defender for 2022, this time in a two-door body style. Even back in the day, the Camel Trophy Land Rovers were the ones to get—they were loud, adventuresome, rare and normally featured special one-off components that set them well apart from their standard fare. This 2022 Defender Camel Trophy edition is one of those 220 announced in 2021 and it is powered by a 3.0L turbocharged, intercooled inline 6-cylinder engine paired with an automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive.
Wrapped in the yellow and black Land Rover Trophy livery, it rolls on black alloy wheels with off-road tires and is fitted with the rear-mounted spare tire. The Ebony interior features front bucket seats with a center console, a rear bench seat, a Meridian sound system, instrumentation and a center display screen among its numerous amenities.
