While the angular shapes of the Lamborghini Islero might have been controversial at the time of its reveal at the 1968 Geneva Motor Show—replacing the Italian marque’s popular 350 GT and 400 GT 2+2 models—the attractive coupé has aged well with time. When new, the Islero epitomised the type of car that Ferrucio Lamborghini wanted his company to create from the outset: an elegant and stylish car that did not upset the norm. In contrast to the founder’s wishes at the time, the opposite could be said for the increasingly bold and daring hypercars that now emanate from the design room at the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory.
The Islero endured for a production run of 225 cars, 100 of which were introduced in 1969 as the Islero S, featuring an uprated 4.0-litre V-12 Lamborghini engine tuned to make 350 brake horsepower and with a more luxurious interior. The earliest history files accompanying this car pin-point previous ownership to Switzerland, then the Netherlands. In the care of its Dutch owner throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, invoices show the Lamborghini was maintained by Italauto of Achterveld; the lengthy documentation on file covers work both minor and major, including engine piston and head gasket replacement. Offered for sale after years of static display in Kuwait, this rare Islero S presents a great opportunity for any Lamborghini collector.

Les documents les plus anciens du dossier historique de cette voiture identifient de précédents propriétaires en Suisse et aux Pays-Bas. Pendant les années 90 jusqu'au début des années 2000, elle a appartenu à un propriétaire hollandais et les factures indiquent qu'elle a été entretenue par Italauto, à Achterveld ; la volumineuse documentation incluse au dossier témoigne de travaux aussi bien mineurs qu'importants, dont un remplacement de pistons et de joint de culasse.
Proposée à la vente après plusieurs années d'exposition statique au Koweït, cette rare Islero S représente une belle opportunité pour tout collectionneur de Lamborghini.
