Addendum

Please note that this lot is titled as a 1982.

Within the lifespan of Lamborghini’s Countach LP400 S, chassis number 1121296 falls in the second series of production. These cars are recognizable for their smooth-finish wheels and lower suspension setting, as compared to the third-series cars, which feature a slightly raised suspension. Of the 237 LP400 S models produced, just 105 fall within the second series of production.

This particular Countach was delivered new to Switzerland finished in red over a beige leather interior. Its most recent previous owner acquired the car from its second owner in 2005. Aside from an engine overhaul undertaken by the first owner, which was completed by a Swiss Lamborghini specialist, the car reportedly remained in largely unrestored and original condition throughout. Driven approximately 5,000 kilometers by that owner over 10 years, it was regularly serviced during this time by an official Lamborghini distributor.

In 2015, noted collector Jean Guikas became the Countach’s fourth documented owner from new and continued its careful maintenance. After six years within the esteemed Guikas collection, it was acquired in 2021 by the consignor, a longtime Lamborghini collector with Italian roots, whose family has restored various significant Lamborghinis over the years, and which claims to own one of the first Espadas produced, said to have been delivered to them by Ferrucio Lamborghini himself in 1968.

Intent on restoring all Lamborghinis within his care to the highest possible standard, in 2022 the consignor invested some €71,000 in cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment at the hands of the same Italian craftsmen who do work for Lamborghini Polo Storico, the automaker’s inhouse classic center. This included stripping and repainting the car to Tahiti Blue, a very rare and desirable original color for the Countach that pairs wonderfully with the original beige interior. Invoices for the work are available for review.

Virtually every Countach LP 400 S is highly sought-after; one such as this, from the coveted second series of production, and maintained to a high degree from a well-established chain of conscientious custodians, is even more so. It is now ready for summer driving or the next concours event.
