These days, most people know that custom pickup trucks have a large following. Add a little of this, a shine of that, and go “show-boating,” as the old term goes. But there’s a better way to do that, by owning a custom truck already built. Here is Outlaw Bandit Edition no. XXIV of a limited series of releases, with a Certificate of Authenticity documenting its exclusivity. The Bandit name is self-explanatory, based around a certain A-list driver and a runaway bride, with a hapless police pursuit thrown in for good measure. We’d avoid that (at least the police part), but what you are considering here is a show-grade modified late-model truck showing 2,180 miles since delivery.
The conversion is platformed on Jeep’s exciting Gladiator model, a model that brought this body option back to Jeep for the first time since the 1992 Comanche was discontinued. This 2022 edition has the 3.6L Pentastar V-6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Dana 44 front and rear axles make up the 4-wheel drive underpinnings, with power steering and power disc brakes. To this combination were added a 3.5-inch Rough Country lift kit, a set of custom Bandit 22-inch wheels and knobby Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 38-inch tires. Of course, the outside is covered in black paint, highlighted with exclusive Bandit graphics, pinstripes and branding in gold tones.
Inside is the Gladiator’s black bucket seat interior, reworked with Bandit-themed trim. This includes a tilt steering column, a large 7-inch touchscreen dash display, an AM/FM stereo with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, in-dash tachometer, and power windows, locks and mirrors. As you know, with this vehicle, if you decide to go to bare basics, the roof and doors can be taken off. The special hood design stands out as well. These days, customized trucks are considered cool. This Outlaw Bandit Gladiator #22 is one that will certainly let you show-and-go with the best of them.
