Launched in 2006, the second-generation X150 maintained the earlier car’s tradition of being more of a grand tourer than an out-and-out sportscar. Featuring the bonded and rivetted aluminium monocoque chassis it shares with the XJ, its all-aluminium construction both saved weight - the new model saves around 100kgs compared to the outgoing one - and ensured that the corrosion that plagued the first generation was now largely an historical problem.
Available as both a 2+2 coupé and a convertible, the runout XK was available in two varieties; one was the XK 5.0, which is fitted with a normally aspirated V8 engine, albeit one with 5.0-litres, 32 valves, 380bhp and 380lb/ft of torque, enough for a top speed of 155mph after passing 60mph in a fraction over five seconds, the other was the XKR with a supercharger and a whopping 503bhp, although not actually much quicker in real life terms.
The Portfolio edition was introduced in 2008 and was offered as either a coupé or cabriolet. The ultimate version, this car was originally bought from Stratstones and came supplied with a high specification as standard including 20 inch wheels, (Orana’s in this case), 400mm diameter brake discs with six-piston calipers on the front matched with 350mm and four-piston calipers on the rear, 525 Bowers & Wilkins stereo system, full climate control, tuned exhausts and luxury interior including heated and cooled fully adjustable Ivory leather front seats.
The vendor purchased this fantastic 2013 example for over £30,000 in 2021 and has taken extremely good care of this lovely example showing less than 44,000 miles with recent maintenance including two new tyres, a new Bosch battery at a cost of over £300 and a fresh MoT valid through until June 2026. Reported to run and drive very well, it now for sale due to ill health. Supplied with V5C Registration document, servicing invoices and fresh MoT test certificate.
