This well engineered XJ40 features a Sigma competition engine delivering a reliable 300bhp. A versatile and proven racing saloon, it’s eligible for a range of current UK Championships. Originally built from a remarkably clean, rust-free 1994 Jaguar XJ40 4.0LS shell, this impressive race-prepared Jaguar is fitted with a rebuilt 4-litre AJ16 engine by Peter Lander (Sigma Engineering) and has seen minimal use since. The engine, recently dyno-tested, delivers a strong 300bhp at the wheels and features a single enlarged throttle body on a Jaguarsport inlet manifold.
The Sigma engine includes custom Cosworth pistons, steel uprated con rods, Piper race camshafts and a lightened flywheel paired with an uprated clutch. An Omex standalone ECU controls the setup, breathing through a six-branch exhaust manifold and bespoke stainless competition exhaust system. Power is delivered via a Getrag 290 gearbox to an uprated Powerlock LSD. Chassis and suspension are tuned with poly and bronze bushes used throughout, bespoke adjustable dampers and strengthened axle mounts with solid bushes. Braking is handled by AP Racing front calipers with floating discs and ABS-delete. Two sets of 16" bespoke Compomotive wheels are included.
The cabin is fully race-prepped featuring a Safety Devices roll cage, fire suppression system, race seat, isolators, custom dash and switchgear with rewired and simplified loom deleting factory safely modules. Glass has been removed and refitted with lightweight polycarbonate side windows. Additional features include a bespoke aluminium fuel tank, coolant expansion tank, oil catch tank, lightweight radiator, fibreglass bonnet and boot lid along with a TWR bumper kit. Eligible for multiple series including the CSCC Jaguar Championship, CTCRC, CSCC Future Classics and others, this XJ40-based racer is properly engineered and built with reliability and ease of maintenance in mind.
Well prepared and sensibly estimated, this would make a great entry in to the very sociable world of Jaguar racing.
