The chassis number of this magnificent Mark saloon dates it to the first year of production of the Mark IX: 1958. It is a rare left-hand drive model sold new in France, as the plate from the importer Royal Elysées confirms. Its superb engine is the original unit, and its power is transmitted through an automatic gearbox. Jean-Pierre Nylin was won over by its condition and bought it at auction from Artcurial in 2008. The car had been repainted in the past in an elegant combination of colours which highlight its sleek lines, while the grey leather upholstery is original, with an attractive patina. The engine compartment is also original.
At its last safety inspection in 2017, the odometer was reading 3,386km; it is now showing 3,407km. The car will need to be recommissioned and given a general overhaul. With its powerful 220bhp six-cylinder engine and servo-assisted disc brakes, the Mark IX was a notable success and is capable of covering long distances with distinction. Buyers are informed that all vehicles in the collection have seen limited use in recent years, having been part of a museum display.
