Jaguar’s mid-sized saloon first appeared as a 1956 model, and it offered several landmark features. It was Jaguar’s first unitized-construction automobile, and it introduced a 2.4-liter version of the immortal XK series twin-camshaft engine, which had heretofore been limited to sports models like the XK 120. In ensuing years, ever-larger engines were installed, such as the 3.4-litre in 1957 and the 3.8-litre in 1959. The latter powerplant coincided with a revamping of the body and chassis, becoming known as the Mark II, with the earlier cars now being identified as Mark I’s.

The owner states that this particular vehicle underwent a “full ground-up restoration”. It started out its life with the 3.4-liter engine, but it was later upgraded to the 3.8-liter dual overhead cam six-cylinder engine for some added performance. The previous owner rebuilt the engine and the wiring harness was completely replaced. It also has amenities of dual sideview mirrors, wood-rimmed steering wheel, toolkit, driving lights, front bucket seats, center console and the classic Jaguar hood mascot. A new clutch has been installed in its four-speed manual with overdrive transmission and the car is said to be "a blast to drive." This Jaguar is an automobile that shows class.
