Introduced just before the introduction of the second generation of Jaguar’s brilliant E-Type, the aptly-named “Series 1½” E-Type combines the 4.2-liter engine and handsome body style of its predecessor, while also incorporating several changes more commonly associated with its successor. These changes include twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, twin cooling fans, adjustable seats, and most notably, open headlights. Features for the E-Type included four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes, with the rear discs fitted next to the differential to reduce un-sprung weight, and fully independent suspension on all four wheels.

Most of the changes between the Series 1 and 1 ½ were required due to increased government regulations. The toggle switches of the Series I were considered unsafe in the event of an accident so they were replaced with rocker switches for 1968. Overheating is a common problem with some E-Types but the twin fans introduced at the beginning of 1968 helped solve that problem.

This beautiful E-type was restored by Jaguar specialists and has been well maintained since. Jaguar Cars of New York originally imported the car shortly after it left the Browns Lane factory on April 24th, 1968. It presents wonderfully in Old English White with black leather interior and is in excellent driving condition. The odometer shows only 69,417 miles though the title shows exempt and it retains its original late 4.2 seats with adjustable backrests. Importantly, the original tool roll, jack, spare tire, maintenance receipts totaling thousands of dollars, and its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate are included with the sale.
