A civilian version of the ubiquitous American military “Humvee,” the Hummer H1 featured an exceptionally robust, wide-track chassis with a full 16 inches of ground clearance, making it capable of climbing a 22-inch step or safely fording a full 30 inches of water. It became an icon of machismo, driven by the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and in many ways was the forerunner of the large SUVs that would take over American roads by the mid-2000s.
The Pewter Metallic H1 Wagon offered here is quite fully equipped, with provisions including a Delphi XM satellite radio, Federal CB radio, DVD/CD player with dashboard Kenwood display screen, overhead continuous interior recording, and roof rack with TracVision satellite receiver. Its engine compartment is equipped with a Centri Precleaner to help improve engine reliability during use in dusty or desert climates, and a controller is mounted for a trailer brake. High-powered rooftop LED light bars with strobe setting, a full front brush guard, an XRC winch, Predator Inc. rock rails, and massive, military-style, run-flat, 40-inch tires on Predator wheels all aid in operation over rough terrain.
For what might be called the
roughest
terrain, the H1 was outfitted with numerous special features, believed to have been installed by Texas Armoring Corporation. The bodywork has been bulletproofed, including lightweight armor in the body and engine compartment, and two-inch-thick bulletproof windows; there are both “horn” and “siren” settings selectable from the console; and the doors are fitted with both lockable deadbolts and handles with a “shock” setting.
Overall the H1 appears in extremely good condition, with detritus from off-road use visible throughout the engine compartment but the paint and interior both well-preserved.
Please note that while the odometer reading displayed 3,800 miles at time of cataloguing, this is not correct nor warranted. There is a Hummer decal affixed that denotes an odometer change in June 2011 at 9,088.4 miles but without any additional supporting information on file. There are erroneous entries on this vehicle’s Carfax relating to the mileage also. In light of all this, prospective buyers should satisfy themselves fully in advance of bidding.
