Equipped with turbocharged power and full-time all-wheel drive, this GMC Syclone arrived from the future. The high-tech super truck is one of only 2,997 produced in 1991, the only year of production, and shows a shade over 9,150 miles on the odometer. Custom paint, pinstriping and badges, as well as functional urethane injection-molded aerodynamic body cladding, set the Syclone apart from the Sonoma with a wider, lower and sinister stance. Multipoint electronic fuel injection, a Mitsubishi TD06-17C turbocharger and a Garrett water-to-air intercooler boosted the 4.3L Vortec V-6 to 280 HP at 4,400 RPM and 350 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 RPM.
Full-time AWD distributes the balance of power through a 4L60 4-speed automatic transmission, BorgWarner transfer case and limited-slip rear differential. Factory-tuned suspension keeps the rubber on the road. The black and gray cabin features bolstered bucket seats with red piping, Syclone-logo embroidered headrests and a center shift console. Power windows and locks, air conditioning and a Kenwood CD stereo system deliver a performance driving environment. The GMC Syclone held the title of the fastest production pickup truck in its time, and Autoweek reported the turbo truck could dispatch a Porsche 959 in a 0-30 MPH challenge.
