In 1928, GMC took over the production of pickups and light delivery vehicles from Pontiac, and during the 1930s these used L-head powerplants from Pontiac and Oldsmobile, while larger trucks had overhead valve units from Buick. Some of the latter were developed in-house to much larger displacements, eventually reaching 707 cubic inches.
In 1936, while rearrangements in the operation structure of the Company were operated, the truck offer from the Group was entirely updated thanks to the release of 15 new models. Among those was notably the light truck T-14 rated at ½ ton or 4,600lbs powered by the 213cid Oldsmobile L6 engine and available as both pickup and panel truck.
GMC produced 57,350 trucks in 1937, a new record high, 310% over 1932. Over 39% of those were T-14 pickups.
The T14 Pickup offered here shows very nicely and appears to have received a sympathetic restoration in the past. While that is not documented, the condition of the truck clearly shows that Mr. Jacobs took very good care of it.
It becomes a rare occurrence to have these iconic T14 being offered in a rather stock configuration, so this appears to be a great opportunity for the highest bidder to bring one home!
