This 1971 Ford Torino Cobra SportsRoof is powered by a matching-numbers 429ci Cobra Jet V8 engine rated at 370hp, mated to a C6 Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and a 3.25:1 rear axle ratio. It is equipped with power front disc brakes, power steering and factory Selectaire air conditioning, along with tinted glass and an AM push-button radio with rear deck speakers. Additional exterior and chassis features include 15-inch Magnum wheels with staggered fitment, 15x7 in front and 15x8 in the rear, fitted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires (235/60R15 in front and 255/60R15 in the rear), as well as a front chin spoiler.
The interior is configured with a black vinyl bench seat and includes a factory clock, noted by the consignor as inoperative. Documented with a Deluxe Marti Report and the original Build Sheet, this Torino Cobra is one of 3,054 Cobras produced for 1971, one of 316 cars equipped with the 429-4V Cobra Jet non-Ram Air engine, one of 199 equipped with an automatic transmission, one of 14 finished in red and one of three built with a black vinyl bench seat, with this car identified as the only example built with this combination including factory air conditioning. It was built at the Atlanta, GA, assembly plant in October 1970.
