In 1997, Jack Roush began offering complete in-house performance packages for the Ford Mustang in three stages of tune. Roush Serial No. 01-0004, this 2001 Ford Mustang Jack Roush Edition Convertible from the Roush Automotive Collection showcases the model in its most potent form, incorporating the Stage 3 Roush Performance Package.
The concept begins with the distinctive Roush body kit, which comprises unique front and rear fascias, rocker moldings with integrated dual exhaust outlets and a prominent rear spoiler. “Roush 3” and “Jack Roush Edition” markings clearly identify this example’s Stage 3 credentials, most notably its Roush/Eaton-supercharged and intercooled 4.6L OHC V-8 engine, which produced 360 HP at 5,200 RPM and 375 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 through a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission.
Roush suspension upgrades were augmented with 265/35ZR18 front and 295/35ZR18 rear BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires on 9-inch front and 10-inch rear chromed Roush Performance alloy wheels over 4-wheel Roush disc brakes with slotted rotors and Roush-branded calipers. Finished in Mineral Gray with a power-operated black convertible top, this especially rare Roush Stage 3 Mustang sports a black leather interior with red-accented front bucket seats, Roush gauges, shifter and pedals, a Ford Mach 460 sound system and Roush Stage 3 console plaque.
