- Evocation of Ford GT40 chassis number 'P/1017'
- Period-correct 302ci (5.0-litre) Ford V8 engine
- Originally built by KVA 35 years ago
This early replica was manufactured over 35 years ago by KVA and assembled over a long period of time as a copy of Ford GT40 chassis number 'P/1017', a car well known in Historic racing and concours events. The car is fitted with a period-correct 302ci (5.0-litre) Ford V8 engine coupled to a UN1 Renault transaxle. Approximately 400 miles have been covered since the car was completed to road-going specification.
This replica car boasts details that would have been present on the Ireland/Rindt works car at the start of the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hour race, including a single external fuel filler, as per 1966 regulations; WW2 period aircraft identification light; sill width bodywork extensions for scrutineering; bug deflector; nostril vent additions; roof blister; hand-painted Union flags front and rear; red surround to roundels; and other minor details. Period photography shows the front roundel to have an incomplete red circle, and this has been replicated also. Another example of correct detailing includes the twin rear vent alloy panels in small louvre format as per the original car.
The interior boasts a period Moto-Lita steering wheel and Lucas rear view mirror, while the right-hand gear change copies the original's. The car is finished in privateer entrant Colonel Ronnie Hoare's Cambridge Blue livery with white Ford decals. It carries a 1967 registration and is classed as an Historic Vehicle by the DVLA.
