Launched at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new Ford GT was designed with motorsport at its core. In a departure from the 2005 model, the latest GT was powered by Ford’s twin-turbocharged, 3.5-litre V-6 EcoBoost engine. All that power was driven to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The monocoque, meanwhile, was built using carbon fibre with lightweight aluminium subframes.
Carbon fibre was also used for the outer body panels, a design marked by striking aerodynamic channels that optimised stability. Multimatic Motorsports of Toronto, Canada managed production, building just one car per day in order to maintain Ford’s high standards. The allocation process was extremely selective, with owners having to apply to Ford before being allowed to place an order.
This Ford GT is believed to be one of 50 European specification models built in 2018, and the only one delivered to Finland that year. It was ordered new by the consignor in the menacing combination of black over black Alcantara, and was delivered via Oy Ford Ab of Helsinki, which registered the supercar on 9 April 2018. The car was specified with a front license plate bracket, orange brake callipers, and a set of black locking wheel nuts. The first owner had the bodywork wrapped in the iconic Gulf Racing colours, protecting the factory black paintwork that lies beneath.
The consignor covered just 1,119 kilometres behind the wheel of the GT at the time of cataloguing. The car was serviced by Veljekset Laakkonen Oy of Helsinki on 25 August 2021, when the odometer read 860 kilometres. The brake fluid, drain plugs, engine oil, oil filter, and spark plugs were all changed at a cost of €756.50. This 2018 Ford GT presents a tempting opportunity to acquire a low mileage, well configured, European specification example of Ford’s halo supercar offering.
Der 2015 auf der Detroit Motor Show vorgestellte Ford GT wurde vor allem für den Motorsport entwickelt. Anders als sein 2005 vorgestellter Vorgänger, verfügte die zweite Generation des GT von einem 3,5 Liter V6 Ford EcoBoost Motor, der die Leistung über ein Siebengang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe an die Hinterräder abgab. Die Karosserie bestand aus einem Kohlefaser-Monocoque mit extrem leichten Aluminiumhilfsrahmen.
Eine Vielzahl von Aerodynamikmaßnahmen in der Karbon-Außenhaut verbesserte die Stabilität weiter. Die Produktion erfolgte bei Multimatic Motorsports im kanadischen Toronto wo pro Tag nur ein Fahrzeug entstand, um Fords hohe Qualitätsstandards sicherzustellen. Die Kundenzuteilung war demzufolge besonders restriktiv; Interessenten mussten sich für einen Platz in der Warteliste bei Ford bewerben.
Dieser Ford GT ist eine von vermutlich nur 50 Europaausführungen, die 2018 gebaut wurden. Der finnische Erstbesitzer und Einlieferer hatte den GT in der bedrohlichen Farbgebung von schwarz mit schwarzem Alcantara-Innenraum bestellt, die Auslieferung erfolgte am 9. April 2018 über den finnischen Importeur Oy Ford AB in Helsinki. Zu den Extras gehören eine Kennzeichenhalterung vorn, Bremssättel in oranger Lackierung sowie schwarze Radmuttern. Der Erstbesitzer hat den GT mit einem Wrap in den legendären Gulf-Farben versehen lassen, was den schwarzen Werkslack darunter geschützt hat.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Drucklegung hatte der Erstbesitzer nur 1.119 km mit dem GT abgespult. Am 25. August 2021 erfolgte bei einem Kilometerstand von 860 km der letzte Service zum Preis von €756,50, der einen Tausch von Bremsflüssigkeit und Motoröl mit Filter und neue Zündkerzen umfasste. Dieser Ford GT ist eine verlockende Gelegenheit, eine nur wenig gelaufene und gut ausgestattete Europaausführung von Fords „Halo“ Supercar zu erstehen.
