Set on a Shelby-tuned suspension complete with Baer 6-piston front disc brakes and 22-inch Shelby wheels with low-profile tires, this 2020 Ford Shelby Super Snake Sport Pickup is one of just 250 built in 2020, the first year of production. Powered by a 5.0L/770 HP V-8 engine with the optional supercharger, a Whipple Tomahawk V1 tuner, a 10-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case, it was considered the quickest and fastest pickup in the world. Finished in silver with black stripes and decals, the body is custom fitted with a revised front bumper and grille, a custom hood and a Leer tonneau cover that conceals a carpeted cargo area.
The black and gray leather and suede interior matches the exterior’s noir mood. The seats are upholstered in black with gray inserts and red stitching, while carbon fiber trim spices up the overall look, and carpeted floormats branded with “Super Snake Sport” add a touch of luxury and exclusivity. Tinted glass keeps the interior at a reasonable temperature while providing privacy, while a Borla exhaust system lends a terrific, thunderous growl.
Complete with a Shelby American window sticker, build sheet and certificate of authenticity, the Shelby Super Snake pickup filled a void for those seeking a replacement for the legendary Ford F150 Lightning, although rumor was that the project came to be when Ford customers started complaining about the Raptor only being offered with a 6-cylinder engine. Regardless, the results are spectacular: it’ll bolt from zero to 60 in less than 4 seconds and find 100 MPH in just about 8 seconds.
Introduced at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the concept originated as an exercise in showing enthusiasts what could be done with an F150, but demand and interest from enthusiasts, the media and Shelby dealers was so high, Shelby American decided to put it into production.
