This 2014 Ford F150 Tremor marked the return of the sport truck to the lineup of America's most popular pickup and the first of its kind powered by the twin-turbo EcoSport V-6. The low-mileage, boosted 4×4 is one of 2,230 produced for a single model year and packs a blend of factory-issued, original equipment and aftermarket upgrades for a harder-hitting punch. The sport truck formula emerged in the 1980s and hit a fever pitch in the ‘90s as manufacturers produced legendary specials like the supercharged Ford F150 SVT Lightning.
Stratospheric fuel prices, changing tastes and the late-2000s economic calamity drove sport trucks to near extinction, but reports of their demise were greatly exaggerated. The Tremor arose from the ruins with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine that boasted an all-new blend of V-6 fuel economy and V-8 performance. An aFe Magnum Force Stage 2 dual-intake cold air system helps the turbos breathe deep and extract the factory rated 365 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque from regular pump gasoline. Full power gets down to the pavement or dirt through a 6R80 6-speed automatic transmission and 4.10 ratio rear differential with electric locking and Ford launch control.
Fabtech Dirt Logic aftermarket coilover shocks augment factory-tuned suspension and anti-lock brakes. A unique FX appearance and box side Tremor graphics package set the short-wheelbase, regular cab F150 apart from the rest. Exclusive features and appointments continue into the factory custom cabin. Bucket seats wear a rugged yet supple combination of black leather and Alcantara upholstery with red accent piping, and the floor shifter and flow-through center console were’nt offered on any other F150. Ford SYNC, a Tremor-branded navigation system and air conditioning deliver customizable infotainment and comfort.
The reincarnation of the Ford F150 sport truck is ready to roll over most anything on black-finish, Moto Metal, 6-spoke, 20-inch wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler all-terrain tires.
