Hennessey built just 100 VelociRaptor 800 Ford F150 pickups, this one carrying an original MSRP of $167,950 plus modifications. This VelociRaptor pickup will thunder from zero to 60 MPH in 4.1 seconds, according to Hennessey. The 5.0L/758 HP Coyote V-8 engine is topped by a Whipple supercharger and mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and Brembo 6-piston disc brakes efficiently scrub down speed while traction and stability control help maintain a sense of civility under pressure.
Upgrades include a Gieser Brother progressive front suspension, a rear suspension with Deaver leafs and frame-mounted bump stops, Black Rhino Chamber wheels with 37-inch all-terrain tires, an Addictive Desert Designs Stealth Fighter front bumper with Rigid Industries LED lights, and a Baja Designs third brake light. Fitted with a Hennessey number plaque, the VelociRaptor is finished in Ruby Red Metallic and has been fitted with a Hennessey rear bumper with LED lights. The black and gray leather interior features embroidered headrests, power windows, power locks and cruise control among other amenities. Hennessey Performance began with John Hennessey building a brand-new Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 to compete in the 1991 Nevada Open Road Challenge, the Bonneville Salt Flats and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. His modifications took the already formidable sports car from 300 HP to 450 HP, earning awards at all three events. Emboldened by his successes, he launched Hennessey Motorsports in 1992 to specialize in the modification of the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Dodge Stealth, Toyota Supra and Mazda RX-7, expanding to build modified Dodge Vipers in 1993. The first Viper was built for a customer looking to compete at the Nevada Open Road Challenge.
The Venom 500, as it was known, won its class and finished fourth with an average speed of 164 MPH. With this, the company began creating performance parts and modifying Dodge Vipers, producing the Venom 550, which Motor Trend magazine discovered could run from 0-60 in just 3.5-seconds. From there, Hennessey began working with a number of other vehicles in the Ford and General Motors portfolio, creating even Cadillac Escalades capable of 0-60 MPH in about 5 seconds and a top speed around 140 MPH.
