Finished in custom, hand-painted, two-tone Root Beer Metallic and white paint with a ceramic coating, this 1970 Ford Bronco is estimated to have over $100,000 invested in its frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration. The 4-wheel drive system is driven by a rebuilt 302 CI V-8 engine that’s been dressed with a finned air cleaner assembly and valve covers and nestled into a restored engine compartment with an aluminum radiator. A new 4-inch lift kit has been installed along with a new suspension, and 32-inch tires wrap new wheels with factory hubcaps. Drivers will appreciate driving simplicity, thanks to power steering and front disc brakes with Wilwood components.
The interior features bucket seats with patterned inserts, a floor shifter for the 3-speed manual transmission, a removable hardtop, a rear seat and more. Rounding out this Bronco is the Marti Report and a window sticker. When it debuted in late 1965 for the 1966 model year, all eyes seemed to remain on Ford, thanks largely to the introduction of the omni-popular Mustang just several months before. It was the perfect time to introduce a new sport utility vehicle, which only added to Ford’s Total Performance image and allowed the company to expand into off-road racing if it wanted to.
Competing against the International Scout and Jeep CJ, the Bronco had the advantage of a well-established and loyal following of Ford customers. An exceptional seller, the original-style Bronco sustained production through 1977 and was long regarded as one of America’s most popular all-terrain vehicles.
