Fiat’s answer to the mid 1980s hot-hatch market, the Turbo i.e. blended everyday usability with boosted performance and has been well maintained throughout its life.
Introduced in April 1985, the Turbo i.e. was Fiat’s performance version of the Uno, offering additional horsepower, lowered suspension and uprated brakes to rival contemporary hot-hatches. Finished in white with period correct black vinyl side stripes featuring red lettering, complemented by black and red rear badges and a set of 13" Cromodora alloy wheels. The interior is fitted with black and red patterned seats and matching door cards, with red carpets and seatbelts giving the cabin a distinctive sporting appearance.
Powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged inline-four with fuel-injection, driving the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox, offering lively performance in a lightweight package. Supplied with original book packs, a well kept service book, numerous invoices and MOT Certificates supporting its careful upkeep over the years. Recent works include a replacement radiator, water pump, hoses, thermostat housing, coolant, fuel pump and filters, ensuring it remains in fine mechanical order.
With fewer survivors today compared to its period rivals, the Uno Turbo i.e. has become an increasingly rare sight and this well documented example represents an appealing opportunity for collectors of 1980s performance hatchbacks.
