Produced between 2004 and 2011, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti advanced the famed Italian automaker’s high-end 2+2 GT tradition with V-12 power. The avant-garde body design was styled by Pininfarina and named in honour of Sergio Scaglietti, the legendary Modenese stylist and coachbuilder responsible for bodying some of the most beautiful Ferrari road and racing cars of the 1950s and ‘60s. As the replacement for the 456, the 612 Scaglietti was a true four-seater with sleek styling and supercar-level performance, ideal for high-speed transcontinental dashes.
Design cues applied to the 612 Scaglietti, particularly the bodyside scallops and headlights, handsomely pay tribute to the 375 MM (Mille Miglia) built in 1954 and commissioned by famed movie director Roberto Rossellini for his wife, screen siren Ingrid Bergman. The 612 was Ferrari’s second all-aluminium vehicle, preceded by the 360 Modena. The lightweight aluminum coachwork is welded to an underlying aluminum spaceframe constructed of aluminum extrusions and castings developed in collaboration with Alcoa. Given its sophisticated design and engineering, the 612 chassis also provided the foundation of the 599 GTB.
Sharing its engine with the 575 Superamerica, the 612 Scaglietti is powered by a potent 5.7L quad-cam 48-valve V-12 engine with an 11:1 compression ratio, competition-type dry-sump lubrication and Bosch Motronic 7 engine management. An F1 6-speed semi-automatic transmission incorporates overdrive and a lockup torque converter. Adaptive damping suspension and 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes harness the power, and quad exhaust outlets deliver the V-12 symphony. Performance credentials include a top speed of 320 KPH (199 MPH) and acceleration from zero to 100 KPH (62 MPH) in just 4 seconds.
Graced by Scuderia Ferrari fender shields and riding on modular 19-inch alloy wheels, this electrifying performer is comfortably equipped with a Connolly leather interior featuring heated Daytona-style seats, an upholstered leather headliner and contrasting interior stitching.
