Introduced for 2002, the Ferrari 575M (Modificata) represented an evolution of the acclaimed 550 Maranello rather than an entirely new model. With the introduction of the 550 Maranello in 1997, Ferrari had returned to its tradition of building front-engined V12 sports cars, resurrecting a line that had remained dormant since the demise of the 365GTB/4 'Daytona' in 1974. The heart of any Ferrari is its engine, and the 550 Maranello's 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 developed 485bhp at 7,000rpm, some 100-or-so horsepower more than the Daytona's.
Ferrari had discovered long ago that providing optimum balance in a front-engined sports car necessitated the use of a rear transaxle, and the Maranello's came with six speeds. The power train was housed in a tubular steel chassis, to which was attached aluminium coachwork, while the all-independent suspension incorporated dual-mode (normal/sports) damping, switch-selectable by the driver, which was complemented by speed-sensitive power-assisted steering.
Styled by Pininfarina like its illustrious 'Daytona' predecessor, the 550 Maranello was similarly proportioned, adopting the classical combination of long bonnet, small cabin and truncated tail. The body's aerodynamics were developed in the wind tunnel, where hours of testing ensured that the minimum of drag was combined with constant downforce regardless of set up, an important consideration in a 200mph road car. Styling details such as the bonnet air scoop and hot air outlets behind the front wheelarches recalled the great competizione Ferraris of the past, in particular the immortal 250GTO, while the tail incorporated Ferrari's characteristic twin circular lights.
For the 575M, engine displacement grew to 5,748cc and maximum power to 515bhp, while transmitting it to the ground was a new six-speed 'paddle shift' semi-automatic gearbox, a technology that Ferrari had developed in Formula 1. When production ceased in 2005, 2,056 cars had been completed, of which 1,810 had the 'F1' transmission, 246 the manual alternative.
Finished in blue with beige leather interior, the 575M offered here has the 'F1' transmission. The Ferrari was sold new in Switzerland to the present owner and first registered on 19th December 2002, and is described by him as in very good condition. The car comes with numerous invoices for routine servicing issued by Modena Cars SA of Geneva between 2016 and 2020, including one dated 20th June 2020 for a major service (timing belts, ancillary belts, new front tyres, etc). The Ferrari also comes with all its original books and a Swiss Carte Grise. Having covered only some 59,000 kilometres from new, this beautiful 575M represents a very rare opportunity to acquire a superb example of one of Ferrari's best ever V12 Grand Tourers.

- Livrets originaux Présentée en 2002, la 575 M (Modificata) était une évolution de la très réussie 550 Maranello, plutôt qu'un nouveau modèle à part entière. En dévoilant la 550 Maranello, en 1997, Ferrari revenait à sa tradition des sportives à moteur V12 à l'avant, ressuscitant une lignée mise en sommeil avec l'arrêt de la 365 GTB/4 « Daytona » en 1974. Le cœur de toute Ferrari est son moteur et le V12 5, 5 litres à 48 soupapes de la Maranello développait 485 ch à 7 000 tr/min, soit plus ou moins 100 ch de plus que celui de la « Daytona ».
Ferrari avait depuis longtemps découvert que pour obtenir un équilibre idéal avec un moteur à l'avant, il fallait avoir recours à une transmission transaxle et celle de la Maranello disposait de six rapports. Le train roulant était logé dans un châssis tubulaire en acier sur lequel reposait une carrosserie en aluminium, tandis que la suspension indépendante proposait deux modes d'amortissement (normal/sport), sélectionnés par le conducteur au tableau de bord, accompagné par une direction à assistance variable en fonction de la vitesse.
Dessinée, comme sa devancière « Daytona », par Pininfarina, la 550 Maranello arborait les mêmes proportions, adoptant le schéma traditionnel d'un long capot avec un habitacle reculé et un arrière tronqué. L'aérodynamique avait été étudiée en soufflerie pendant des heures pour s'assurer d'une trainée minimale, associée à un appui constant, quel que soit le réglage, une donnée essentielle sur une voiture capable d'atteindre 320 km/h. Des détails, comme les entrée d'air de capot et les extracteurs d'ailes derrière les roues avant rappelaient les Ferrari competizione d'autrefois, notamment la mythique 250 GTO, et le panneau arrière recevait les feux circulaires typiques.
Pour la 575 M, la cylindrée du moteur était portée à 5 748 cm3 et la puissance maximale à 515 ch, qu'une nouvelle boîte à six rapports par palettes au volant – une technologie développée par Ferrari en Formule 1 - transmettait à la route. Lorsque la production prit fin en 2005, 2 056 voitures avaient été construites dont 1 810 avec la transmission « F1 » et 246 avec l'option boîte manuelle.
Bleue avec intérieur en cuir beige, la 575M proposée ici est équipée de la transmission F1. La Ferrari a été vendue neuve en Suisse à l'actuelle propriétaire, immatriculée le 19 décembre 2002 et il la décrit comme étant en très bon état. La voiture est vendue avec de nombreuses factures d'entretien de routine effectué par Modena Cars SA de Genève entre 2016 et 2020, dont une datée du 20 juin 2020 pour une révision importante (courroie de distribution, courroie d'accessoires, pneus avant neufs, etc). La Ferrari est également vendue avec tous ses livrets originaux et sa carte grise suisse.
N'ayant parcouru que 59 000 kilomètres d'origine, cette magnifique 575M représente une très rare opportunité d'acquérir un superbe exemplaire de l'une des meilleures Ferrari de grand tourisme à moteur V12.
