Luxembourg title - French history from new - Superb colour combination - Major recent work - No reserve In line with Ferrari's "family" models, the 250 GTE, 365 GT 2+2, then 365 GTC/4 and 365 GT4 2+2, the 400i was launched in 1980. It is an evolution of the 400 that appeared in 1976 to succeed the 365 GT4 2+2. The "i" meaning the transition to injection, in this case a mechanical Bosch K-Jetronic which was very popular at the time.

Powered by a 4.8L engine producing 310 hp, the 400i is capable of carrying four passengers at high speed, in the greatest comfort thanks to a spacious and luxuriously finished interior. A total of 1,306 units were produced before the 412, the ultimate evolution of the 400, took over in 1985. The 400i on offer was delivered new in France in July 1981. As the warranty booklet shows, the car was first delivered to an enthusiast in the Paris area, in the colours it has retained today: Celeste blue with beige leather interior. Records kept by Pozzi show us that this 400i was regularly maintained by the Ferrari importer until 2001 when the mileage was 73 521 km.

Copies of successive registration documents show that the car remained in the Paris region, changing hands three times before being acquired by our collector in 2008, when it had covered 87 213 km. Being meticulous about keeping his cars in good order, our collector ensured this 400i was carefully maintained, initially by his own mechanic and later by the renowned specialist Alfredo Sampaio, based near Le Mans. A major service was carried out in July 2020, when the mileage stood at 91 791 km. The engine bay was repainted, the timing chain replaced and the injection system, brakes and air conditioning were completely overhauled.

Following some 23 000€ of work, the car is presented in superb condition today. A French car from new, coming with a file documenting the work carried out over the past 40 years, this beautiful GT has all the benefits of a car that has retained its youthful appeal.
