Dans la lignée des modèles " familiaux " 250 GTE, 365 GT 2+2, puis 365 GTC/4 et 365 GT4 2+2, de la marque au Cheval Cabré, la 400i est commercialisée en 1980. C'est une évolution de la 400 apparue en 1976 pour succéder à la 365 GT4 2+2. Le " i " signifiant le passage du modèle à l'injection, en l'occurrence mécanique Bosch K-Jetronic très en vogue à l'époque. Dotée d'un moteur de 4.8L développant 310 chevaux la 400i est capable d'emmener quatre passagers à 240 km/h, dans le plus grand confort grâce à un habitacle spacieux et luxueusement fini. Au total 1306 400i seront produites jusqu'en 1985. L'histoire de cette Ferrari 400i n'est pas commune pour plusieurs raisons.

Il s'agit de l'avant-dernière Ferrari 400i produite et elle est la toute dernière 400i livrée neuve en France par Charles Pozzi SA, l'importateur Ferrari historique implanté à Levallois-Perret. Ce n'est pas tout: son premier propriétaire n'est autre que Monsieur Marnier-Lapostolle, PDG de la 'Société des Produits Marnier-Lapostolle', fabriquant, entre autres, du célèbre alcool le Grand Marnier. Il en prend livraison le 5 juin 1985 dans sa version équipée de la boîte automatique, pour un usage plus confortable dans les rues de Paris et de Neauphle-le-Château (Yvelines) où est implantée la société.

La combinaison de couleur de cette 400i est spéciale puisqu'elle est aux couleurs du 'Grand Marnier', prune, intérieur cuir Cognac. A la commande, en plus de la combinaison de couleurs spéciales, il va demander une planche centrale et un tableau de bord recouverts de ronce de noyer vernis. Cet équipement sur mesure est réalisé à la demande de Pozzi par l'atelier Lecoq. Son carnet d'entretien tamponné et les copies de l'ensemble des factures Ferrari Pozzi (de la livraison neuve aux années 2010) prouvent un entretien très régulier et méticuleux.

Il conserve sa voiture pendant 30 ans avant de la vendre en 2015 à Matthieu Lamoure, directeur d'Artcurial Motorcars: " Lorsque j'étais adolescent, j'ai croisé Jean-Paul Belmondo dans Paris au volant d'une Ferrari 400i. Ayant beaucoup d'admiration pour l'acteur, lorsque j'ai vu cette voiture chez M.

Marnier-Lapostolle, son premier propriétaire, quelques années après, j'ai eu le coup de foudre pour ce modèle qui me permettrait de voyager confortablement en Ferrari avec ma famille au complet! " Matthieu, dès son achat et alors qu'elle n'avait que 80 000 km et des travaux à prévoir, décide de l'envoyer chez Sampaïo Automobiles à côté du Mans, Alfredo Sampaïo étant un des excellents spécialistes de la marque. Il lui donne pour instruction de refaire tout ce qui fonctionne mal (ou pas du tout) sur la voiture, et d'en faire une automobile fiable avec laquelle il pourrait voyager avec l'esprit tranquille.

En un an de travaux, tout est revu sur la belle italienne: suspensions refaites ainsi que la réfection complète du haut moteur et des injecteurs, la double-climatisation avant-arrière, le chauffage, la direction assistée, de nombreux détails électriques, le radiateur et le refroidissement, la ligne d'échappement, le changement des pneus Michelin TRX. Depuis ces importants travaux pour un montant total de 33 000€, la voiture est toujours envoyée chez Sampaïo pour une révision complète annuelle et pour quelques travaux occasionnels comme un changement du moteur de lève-vitre, d'un relais ou autre.

La voiture étant parisienne, elle avait subi dans sa vie des coups de portières, des éclats de peintures et quelques rayures; elle vient ainsi d'être entièrement repeinte dans les règles de l'art par un spécialiste travaillant régulièrement pour Sampaïo. Avec ses 91 000 km d'origine le jour de la rédaction du catalogue, il s'agit d'une voiture d'une grande fiabilité, où le moindre dysfonctionnement a toujours été réparé, dans un état optimal aussi bien mécanique que cosmétique. Elle démarre au quart de tour aussi bien à froid qu'à chaud. La pression d'huile est très bonne et le refroidissement se fait parfaitement. L'intérieur est superbe d'origine, et le cuir régulièrement nourri.

Fournie avec le double des clés, la pochette Ferrari d'origine contenant la totalité des manuels d'origine et le carnet d'entretien, l'historique des factures ainsi que la trousse à outils complète, cette Ferrari 400i à l'histoire unique est une des rares que nous ayons croisé dans un tel état. Parfaitement au point, elle est prête à prendre la route sur n'importe quelle distance. Merci de noter que la voiture est vendue avec contrôle technique valide de plus de 6 mois.

It was an evolution of the 400, which was introduced in 1976 to succeed the 365 GT4 2+2. The letter 'i' denoted the adoption of fuel injection, in this case the Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical system, which was very popular at the time.

With a 4.8-litre engine developing 310bhp, the 400i could transport four passengers at 240kph in absolute comfort, thanks to its roomy and luxuriously finished interior. Altogether, 1306 400i models were built up to 1985. The history of this 400i is unusual for several reasons. It was the last but one Ferrari 400i built and the very last 400i delivered new in France by Charles Pozzi, Ferrari's historical importer based at Levallois-Perret. And that is not all: its first owner was none other than M. Marnier-Lapostolle, the CEO of the 'Société des Produits Marnier-Lapostolle', the company which produced the famous Grand Marnier liqueur.

He took delivery of the car on 5 June 1985; it was equipped with automatic transmission to make it more comfortable to use in the streets of Paris or at Neauphle-le-Château (Yvelines), where his company was based. The 400i is in a special combination of colours, those of Grand Marnier, with plum-coloured paintwork and a cognac leather interior. As well as the special colour combination, he also ordered the centre console and dashboard finished in burr walnut. These bespoke parts were produced at Pozzi's request by the Lecoq workshop. The stamped-up service book and copies of all the bills from Pozzi (from its delivery to the 2010s) prove that it was regularly and meticulously maintained.

He kept the car for 30 years before selling it in 2015 to Matthieu Lamoure, the director of Artcurial Motorcars: "When I was a teenager, I saw the actor Jean-Paul Belmondo driving a Ferrari 400i in the streets of Paris. As I was a big fan of Belmondo, when I saw the car at the home of M. Marnier-Lapostolle, its first owner, some years later, I instantly fell in love with this model which would let me travel in comfort in a Ferrari with all my family!" As soon as Matthieu bought the car, which had covered only 80,000km and needed some work doing, he decided to send it to Sampaïo Automobiles near Le Mans, run by Alfredo Sampaïo, an excellent Ferrari specialist.

He instructed Sampaïo to repair everything which was working badly (or not at all) and to make it a reliable car which he could drive with peace of mind. In work lasting a year, everything was gone over on this Italian beauty: the suspension was rebuilt, along with the complete top end of the engine, the fuel injectors, dual air-conditioning system (front and rear), heating, power steering, exhaust system, radiator and cooling system, as well as attending to numerous electrical issues and replacing the Michelin TRX tyres.

Since this major work costing a total of 33,000 €, the car has always been sent to Sampaïo for a full annual service and for some occasional jobs such as the replacement of an electric window motor, a relay or the like. As the car had spent its life in Paris, it had suffered some knocks to the doors, chipped paint and a few scratches; it has therefore just been repainted to the highest standards by a specialist who works regularly for Sampaïo. With 91,000km from new at the time this catalogue went to press, it is a highly reliable car, where the slightest fault has always been put right, to keep it in perfect mechanical and cosmetic condition.

It starts on the first turn of the key, whether hot or cold. The oil pressure is excellent and the cooling system works perfectly. The original interior is superb, and the leather has been regularly fed. Supplied with both sets of keys, its original Ferrari document wallet with the service book and all the original manuals, the invoice history and its complete tool kit, this Ferrari 400i with its unique history is one of the rare cars we have come across in such condition. Now 'on the button', it is ready to be driven any distance. Please note that the car is sold with a valid technical inspection, of more than 6 month.
