Introduced at the 1971 Geneva Salon, the 365 GTC/4 was Ferrari’s latest offering in their esteemed line of grand touring coupes. Penned by Filippo Sapino of Pininfarina, the 365 GTC/4’s flowing wedge shape was a significant departure from the more traditional profile of its predecessors. The “4” in GTC/4 signified quad overhead camshafts in its high-revving 4.4-liter V-12 engine, a slightly detuned version of the mill which powered its more aggressive sibling, the 365 GTB/4 “Daytona.”
Completed in January 1972, chassis 15197, presented here, was delivered new to an owner in Santa Monica, California via William Harrah’s Ferrari distributorship, Modern Classic Motors in Reno, Nevada. The car would remain in Southern California throughout the 1970s, before passing to Melvin Moultry of Beverly Hills, California around 1984. Moultry would cherish 15197 for the next 26 years, proudly displaying it at a slew of events including, the Ferrari Club of America International Meeting in Carmel Valley, California, the 1995 Rosso Rodeo Concours on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, and a feature in issue number 79 of the Ferrari Club of America’s magazine,

After the car left Moultry’s stable in 2010, it was treated to a restoration by Rod Drew’s Francorchamps of America, Inc. of Costa Mesa, California. Drew’s team refurbished the car in the wonderful period shade of Blu Sera over Beige leather trim it wears today. After its restoration, 15197 passed through a series of doting caretakers before being acquired by the Adderley Collection in 2015.
The 365 GTC/4 is considered by many to be a more usable iteration of the famed Ferrari Daytona, and like any four-seater Ferrari, it is an ideal grand touring automobile that combines the best aspects of Italian engineering and luxury.
