Offered is a historic Ferrari consigned by a Ferrari Icon, Mr. Dick Fritz. Formally General Manager of Ghinetti Motors, the Ferrari importer and distributor of cars throughout North America. Mr. Fritz was also Team Manager of NART (North American Racing Team) the exclusive Ferrari Factory supported team in North America. NART competed at LeMans, Daytona, Sebring as well as Formula 1 and CanAm. This particular Ferrari 365 GTC/4 was originally ordered and delivered to Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, a long time friend of Mr. Ferrari and owner of over a dozen Ferrari automobiles.
Serial Number S/N 14467 was delivered to the Prince in September of 1971 in his preferred color of Verde Scaro, a deep shade of green. Prince Bernhard would later sell the car to his friend Cornelius Ryan, author of “The Longest Day” and “A Bridge Too Far.” Mr. Ryan's widow conveyed ownership to Chinetti Motors following the death of her husband in 1976. The 365 GTC/4 has less than 2000 miles on a documented comprehensive engine 365 GTC/4 rebuild. This consignment offers a rare opportunity to own a historic Ferrari with well documented ownership and provenance. From Mr. Fritz's personal collection, the car comes with copied documents of communication between Prince Bernhard and Mr.
Ryan as well as photos of the Prince with the car and with Enzo Ferrari. The receipts for the engine rebuild are also included with the sale of the car. A completely rebuilt Ferrari 365GTC/4 engine was installed less than 2000 miles ago along with a new clutch. Work order for this work is in hand.
