The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR marked the return of the American Club Racer after a 6-year absence. It’s one of only two produced in Very Viper Orange Pearl with a black-over-slate gray suede and leather interior, and this street-legal race car has logged just 27 miles and retains its original dealer protective plastic, warning labels, and the window sticker is still affixed. The ACR was factory equipped with the $12,050 Competition Group package that includes front and rear spoilers, competition suspension, ACR badge, two-tone black center band, fog-lamp delete and forged-alloy Sidewinder wheels.
Dodge Street and Racing Technology, or SRT, outfitted the 8.4L SFI V-10 with larger oil pump with special swinging pickup designed to maintain oil pressure under heavy lateral force. The car’s 600 HP and 560 lb-ft of torque backed up by a 6-speed manual transmission with twin-disc clutch and speed-sensing anti-spin limited-slip differential was deemed more than adequate power, and the SRT team focused their knowledge on weight reduction, race-tuned suspension and a suite of functional aerodynamic elements.
The carbon-fiber front splitter, front canards and adjustable rear wing are capable of creating more than 1,000 pounds of downforce at 150 MPH with a 45-to-55 front-to-rear percentage split. Power rack-and-pinion steering, aluminum control arms, adjustable KW Suspension coilovers with two-way damping and forged Sidewinder wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup DOT-approved street-legal Ultra High Performance compound race tires deliver maximum control. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes with StopTech two-piece competition slotted rotors scrub off velocity.
The Viper SRT-10 ACR could launch from 0-60 MPH in less than 4 seconds, hold over 2.0 g on the skidpad and boasts a top speed in excess of 200 MPH. A track-day weapon that can still pass the muster as a street car, the SRT-10 ACR is one hardcore ride.
