This custom restored 1996 Dodge RAM 2500 Laramie SLT pickup is powered by a 5.9-liter 6-cylinder engine paired with an NV4500 5-speed manual transmission. The engine sits in a custom engine bay and has a rebuilt engine, along with O-ringed head and head studs. It has been modified with a racing injection pump, Fass fuel delivery system, performance camshaft, liquid-filled camshaft damper, twin-turbo chargers producing 60 pounds of boost with a 5-inch discharge, a large core custom rad overflow tank with a glass sight for checking fluid levels, a high-heat coolant bypass for the rear of the engine block and a 5-inch exhaust.
Power is backed by the rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission with a twin-disc SFI performance clutch, new synchros, a 1-3/8-inch input shaft, short shift kit and transmission coolers. The frame, brackets and hardware have been sandblasted, painted and reassembled, including the rear leaf springs. Additional modifications to the chassis include a large sector shaft steering box with new linkage, a solid shaft adjustable front track bar, a new brake system, and front and rear sway bars with rear traction bars. The differentials are Dana 80 posi-traction rear and a Dana 60 front with a 3.54-gear ratio.
It is also fitted with 10 Fox shocks in the truck, four in the front, four in the rear and two for steering. Additional suspension changes include rear air bags with a wireless compressor and Sulastic rear left hangers. Chrome components include front and rear sway bars, traction bars, rear U-bolts, injection lines, hood hinges, front coil springs, front upper and lower suspension control arms, and multiple engine parts. Exterior changes include an LED sport headlights, new chrome front upper bumper cover, and Armorguard on the inner wheel wells and bed. The interior is factory but features an upgraded Bluetooth stereo and a set of new power seats.
All weatherstripping and exterior moldings are new. The wiring has been relocated, soldered and shrink-tubed. The pickup was shown once in 2024, winning Best Powertrain and two First Places for Best Paint at the 56th Annual Auto Value World of Wheels and the International Show Car Association. 236,807 kilometers (147,145 miles) (title reads exempt).
