Considered to be one car that disappeared too soon, the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 Wagon is one of those machines that still turns heads, especially when looking at this one, as that bright Tor-Red exterior isn’t likely to disappear in a sea of machines at either the car show or at the local market. Built between 2006 and the middle of the 2008 production season, the upscale Magnum SRT-8 was short-lived with only 239 produced in that final year prior to the model’s discontinuance in February 2008. Featuring what was the top Dodge passenger car engine offering at that time, the 6.1L/425 HP Hemi V-8 engine under the hood means getting groceries will be quick and easy.
The 6.1L SRT-8 here has the bare-metal aluminum intake and it is backed by the automatic transmission. One aspect of these final-year models was the freshly redone fascia and front-end design contours, which one reviewer called “menacing.” Since the “Race inspired, street legal” mindset is what the SRT program has always been about, here, the functional factory hood scoop, body-color bumper and rear-sloping Magnum roofline help define it, with tinted glass increasing that perception. Of course, that doesn’t mean luxury disappeared.
In addition to the Tor-Red exterior, this Dodge being one of just 53 Magnums so ordered, this car has the black and gray interior with red interior stitching, a factory sunroof, the power driver’s seat, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo with CD player, and a tilt/telescopic steering column. Visual driving assistance includes tachometer and 180 MPH speedometer, with cruise control as well. There is keyless entry, electronic stability control, heated mirrors, fog lamps, Brembo disc brakes and the black Lexani wheels, which host Hankook tires. This example features a Borla exhaust system, lowered suspension and has been driven 31,952 miles since new.
The 2008 model is the rarest production year for the Magnum SRT8 and its single-year appointments only add to its desirability.
