Created for the SUV market, the Dodge Durango would normally be looked at as, well, normal. However, infusing one with 710 HP right on the assembly line is not exactly normal. For 2021, Dodge did that anyhow, and the example offered here is a first-year SRT Hellcat Durango showing only 32 miles since delivery. The truth is, this particular package is one created to be fully respected, as road testing by MotorTrend proved it’s faster in the 0-60 MPH dash than the 2020 Shelby GT500 (3.4 seconds) and it runs a quarter-mile faster than its sister SRT Hellcat Redeye Charger (11.7 second ET).
Thanks to highly-scienced suspension adjustability and refitted internal rebound springs in the dampers, SRT engineers have limited body roll, despite the Durango’s top-heavy center of gravity, and this all-wheel-drive layout further benefits from SRT’s advanced launch control software. Under the hood is the Hellcat 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine, rated at 710 HP in this application and backed by the 8HP95 8-speed transmission, featuring both floor and paddle shifters. The billet clear coat exterior is equipped with a center-scooped hood, special Hellcat emblems and the added-cost Black Package, which removed the chrome accents for a stealth appearance.
Inside is the leather and suede black interior with heated and ventilated bucket seats, dual-zone climate control, Harmon Kardon-designed AM/FM stereo and the premium-cost rear seat entertainment system with flat screens in the headrests. Of course, all the SRT controls are right at the driver’s fingertips, as is a large dash-centered touch screen and center console area. Visible behind the 20×10-inch Lights-Out aluminum alloy wheels are the Brembo brake calipers, while Pirelli P Zero tires help plant this machine to the pavement under whatever your driving style is. Noteworthy as a true AWD SUV, the SRT Hellcat Durango is not for the faint of heart.
Getting groceries will never be the same, and this low-mileage example offers the opportunity to own one that is like new.
