The Dodge brand entered 1970 with exciting changes to the Charger lineup, but even the vaunted R/T had nothing on the incredible car offered here. Taking an estimated 3,000 hours and over four years to complete, this beast showcases a stealth look yet still retains the stylish highlights of the original model. Completed by MirandaBuilt in Delray Beach, Florida, power comes from a 667 HP Gen 2-design Hemi V-8 engine that displaces 572 CI. Based around a CNC-prepped Mega block, the engine is topped with Indy cylinder heads, custom-fabricated valve covers, twin Viper throttle bodies and Comp Cams and Indy valvetrain parts.
This is fitted into a customized engine bay with show-level firewall prep. Its custom exhaust exits through custom ports in the rear quarter panels. The mill is followed by a Rossler 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission and a Mopar 8.75-inch rear housing using a Tru-Trac differential. Underpinnings include a custom suspension with AccuAir air ride, power rack-and-pinion steering, and 4-wheel disc brakes. The lightly modified body is now dechromed, featuring PPG Charcoal paint with black accenting, a custom rear stripe, tinted windows, a shortened custom-designed grille with OE-style center trim line, and tucked and smoothed body-color bumpers.
There are custom rear LED taillights, dual batteries, a remote start that can be operated using your smartphone and even a remote kill switch. The control panels and fuses are located under the two rear seats. Also inside the custom leather interior are a modern audio system, Vintage Air, a magnetic dash (no screws or clips), a custom steering wheel, a full-length console and a short-throw shifter. With PPF used on the nose of the car and lower body, the look is completed by 20- and 22-inch Schott wheels and wide tires. This car has been honored with awards at Detroit Autorama (2015), Hot August Nights (2023) and the Goodguys show in Pleasanton, California.
