If you had said to somebody back in 1980 that Dodge’s Challenger would one day return again as a true high-performance vehicle, you probably would have been laughed at. Dreams can come true with this stunning 2014 rendering of the 392 CI Hemi-powered Dodge, as it is everything from back in the day and more. Featuring a plethora of great options and components, the SRT-8 combinations offered by Chrysler are far more than cosmetic as much of the equipment used is based around real-world performance testing and the desire for durability under serious conditions.
Coupling the name HEMI allowed the brand to further reach for the legacy of the past, and the Challenger’s styling has been well-received from every quarter since it originally made its debut. This example features the blackout spoiler package, grille and rear panel, but perhaps the first thing noticed is the upgraded HEMI-logo functional Shaker air intake coming through the hood. One of the model’s most famous options from the past, this quivering modern design now covers the 392/470 HP engine, which itself is backed by the 5-speed automatic transmission.
Ordered in deluxe form inside as well, this SRT8 Challenger plays host to a black interior with white stitching, the factory sunroof, the tachometer and 180 MPH speedometer in the dash, and the U-Connect stereo with Sirius XM capability. The shifter has been upgraded to a carbon-fiber Pistol Grip-like design. With this package, one also received the SRT-8’s excellently designed suspension pieces, which here include the big 4-wheel Brembo disc brakes. This car rides on black Lexani wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires and has been driven 3,474 miles since new.
