The Chevrolet Suburban forged the best qualities of the tough half-ton pickup truck and versatile station wagon into a single all-purpose sport and utility vehicle, and this 1986 Suburban 4×4 Silverado shows a mere 27,000 miles traveled. The all-terrain traveler is equipped with the classic small-block Chevrolet V-8 automatic transmission combination and mild custom modifications that step up the proven combination. The top-trim Suburban Silverado comes with its owner's manual and registration receipts that document its journey from the mid-‘80s to today.
The optional 5.7L V-8 was just one notch below the big-block bruiser and sends its potent power through a 4-speed automatic transmission and rear axle with 3.42 gears for the right combination of low-speed launches and high-speed highway hauling. A 40-gallon fuel tank makes for uninterrupted adventure on and off the road. Power steering and power front brakes work with girder beam coil spring front independent suspension and two stage multi-leaf rear springs with counter-angled shock absorbers for confident on- and off-road control. A mild lift kit installed a few years ago brought original recipe Suburban sport and utility up a few notches.
The seventh-generation Suburban borrowed its clean style from the wildly popular third-generation Rounded Line series C10 pickup. Deep black paint and top-of-the-line Silverado package trim join a roof rack and aluminum running boards with chrome front and rear bumpers for stylish utility. Silverado-level appointments continue in the spacious cabin with a color-coordinated headliner, custom cloth seating and plush cut pile carpet. Air conditioning, power windows and an AM/FM radio add comfort, convenience and entertainment. Tinted glass filters out unwanted glare and heat.
The Suburban is offered without reserve and waits for its next adventure on factory-optional cast aluminum wheels with 4×4-logo center caps and oversized BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A radial tires.
