With a Suburban body and C10 bed on top of a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD pickup 4-wheel drive chassis and frame, the hand-crafted hauler stands as the three-door, crew-cab short bed that Chevrolet never made. The unique machine wears brown paint topped with recently applied (in 2020) PPS 9H ceramic coating for a durable, low maintenance shine. Dual side mirrors, the grille and a color-synchronized finished wood bed with fifth-wheel ball hitch add heavy hauling supremacy with a ’70s sensibility.
The General Motors 1972-2003 trucks greatest hits compilation continues under the hood with a twin-turbocharged 6.6L Duramax Diesel V-8 engine and Allison automatic transmission power team. Wiles Diesel Performance built the monster motor with a body color-keyed collection of heavy-hitting equipment including a SDP Screamin’ Diesel Performance twin-turbo kit with powdercoated intakes and turbocharger cold side compressor housings. An S&B high-flow air filter gives the engine what it demands, and 4-wheel disc brakes slow the big rig down from speed. Raptor series nerf bars offer a step up into the air conditioned, black and brown, Chevrolet Silverado package interior.
Front and rear bench seats and the center storage console wear new two-tone leather upholstery with contrast tan stitching, and the matching door panels bridge the 20th and 21st century with ’70s Suburban door pulls and Sierra power window controls. Cruise control and an updated Kenwood sound system deliver convenience and entertainment, and a supplemental Auto Meter fuel pressure gauge keeps an eye on underhood fury.
