The Chevrolet Impala continued its evolution to the more refined styling and increased level of luxury that characterize the handsome 1962 convertible presented here. Correctly refinishing as original in Roman Red, it sports a White power-operated soft top, matching tonneau cover and the Impala’s upscale interior in Red vinyl with matching textured inserts and button-tuft detailing on the upper seatbacks and door trim panels; a push-button radio, tissue dispenser, power steering and power brakes were overwhelmingly popular options on the top-line Chevy.
The new 327 CI small block joined the 283 on the engine roster, offering 250 HP in baseline form and in this case mated to a column-shifted Powerglide 2-speed automatic. Complementing the Impala’s extra brushed stainless trim and chrome accents are optional wire-wheel hubcaps, whitewall tires and dual exhaust.
