Matching numbers SS 427, one of less than 300 produced in 1969. 1969 marked the swan-song year for the true Impala Super Sport, the last of the original run of Impala Super Sports. Demand had decreased as sales of lighter and less expensive platforms (Camaro, Nova, Chevelle) increased. For 1969 Chevrolet did not even list the standard Impala SS, but only the SS 427 in three different body styles: coupe, hardtop and convertible. Only 2,455 Super Sports were assembled for the entire 1969 model year, over all three body styles. This particular car is a matching numbers example that has traveled less than 75,000 original miles, mileage not indicated on title.

Originally Garnett Red with black interior, it was repainted white and fitted with a tan interior. It was then garage stored for approximately 10 years and once again commissioned in 2012 as a daily driver. In 2013 it was fitted with a new tan vinyl top. It was assembled 4th week of August 1968 at the Southgate, CA plant. The car drives well, but was purchased as a restoration project. Unfortunately, the restorer, 75 years old, had some health issues and the car was once again put into storage. Before this occurred, a complete new OEM black interior was purchased but not installed. This interior (cost over $4000) is included.

Under the hood is the original 390hp, L36 engine, whose power is transmitted through a THM 400 3-speed automatic. The THM is basically bullet-proof, with a cast iron center support and over-large multi-plate second gear clutch that can withstand the very high torque of this engine. This is the ultimate sleeper of 1969. Overall the car is very solid, with minimal corrosion. It has the original Rally II wheels equipped with narrow white walls that were the rage when this car was repainted.
