The fifth generation of Chevrolet’s popular El Camino debuted in 1978 and ran through 1987, and was available in four levels of trim, from the baseline Classic to the top-of-the-line Super Sport. Although the El Camino shared its front end with the Malibu, its doors with the Monte Carlo and its tailgate and rear bumper with the Malibu station wagon, its frame was exclusive to the model for the very first time in its history. The 1986 El Camino SS offered here sports the popular combination of Dark Red Metallic and Grey Metallic paint with Grey SS graphics, Black and Silver Sport wheels and newer white-letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
Showing a believed-correct 33,000 miles from new, it uses Chevrolet’s 5.0L V-8 mated to a 3-speed automatic, power steering and power brakes. The sharp Burgundy vinyl and Velour interior is equipped with a power sunroof, power windows and seats, stereo and air conditioning.
