Chevrolet’s dominance in the IMSA Grand Touring Le Mans Championship racing series continued uninterrupted with the introduction of the midengined Corvette in 2020, when Corvette swept the table by winning the Manufacturer’s, Drivers’ and Team Championships. Chevrolet then commemorated those accomplishments by introducing the 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition at the June 2021 Chevrolet Detroit IndyCar Grand Prix in Detroit, Michigan. The supporting IMSA Chevrolet Sports Car Classic race marked the Corvette Racing Team’s first appearance in Detroit, making the event the perfect venue for the Championship C8.R Edition’s unveiling.
Powered by Corvette’s LS2 6.2L/495 HP V-8 engine mated to an 8-speed, dual clutch, automatic transmission, the C8.R Edition was available on Corvettes equipped with the 3LT Preferred Equipment Group and the track-oriented Z51 Performance Package, the latter including adjustable suspension with enhanced Magnetic Ride Control, upgraded disc brakes with yellow-painted calipers, special exhaust, 245/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR20 rear performance tires on 19- and 20-inch, five-trident spoke, black-painted aluminum wheels, heavy-duty cooling and a performance axle ratio with an Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD).
Offered with a mere 13 miles on the odometer and the factory interior protective plastic still in place, this 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R Edition Convertible is No. 600 of the limited series of 1,000 examples.
