Modern supercars with muscle car heritage are hot, and the cars like this 2018 Camaro ZL1 are a blend of both old and new legends. Back in the day, however, releases tended to be solely to homologate a package for a single, specific type of racing—primarily drag racing in the case of the first ZL1s; today’s examples are created for all-around aggressiveness. The supercharged LT4 6.2L/650 HP V-8 engine is not simply a tire-burner but a balanced driveline component within a packaged vehicle that has taken cornering and aerodynamics into consideration as well.
This car from the Eddie Vannoy Collection was ordered with driving in mind, as it hosts the 6-speed manual transmission and the 1LE Extreme Track package. Covered in Summit White with a contrasting black hood and carbon fiber components, the car did not simply have “cool” pieces installed by its designers for eye appeal.
The 1LE rear carbon fiber deck wing, air deflectors and dive planes on this body are functional, allowing it to reach toward immense potential speeds, and work in conjunction with Multimatic DSSV adjustable dampers and electronic stability control to give the skilled driver the ability to “use only as directed!” A set of 4-wheel Brembo brakes take care of the other end of that action. Meanwhile, the interior is posh, done in black with red stitching and seat belts.
Once sitting down into the heated and ventilated front bucket seats, both driver and passenger can remain comfortable with dual-zone automatic climate control, while this car hosts the heated steering wheel and a Bose premium audio system with Apple CarPlay as well.
