An extensive frame-off restoration completed to correct specifications by C.A.R.S. in Berkley, Michigan, brought this factory fuel-Injected 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible back to its top spot in the 1957 Chevrolet lineup. The iconic performer was refinished in authentic Matador Red DuPont lacquer topped with the gold-anodized trim and grille that set the Bel Air above the rest. Crossed flag fuel-injection badging adds further distinction as one of only an estimated 70 Bel Air convertibles factory equipped with the innovative Rochester Ramjet system that pushed the 283 CI V-8 to a performance milestone: one horsepower per cubic inch of displacement.
The mighty mouse is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission with column shift. Lowering the white convertible top reveals a two-tone red and silver interior loaded with revitalized midcentury American splendor and Jet Age style. Body-color synchronized upholstery from the split front bench seat to the matching door panels was a Bel Air hallmark. The sweeping wraparound dash includes a clock and optional Wonderbar signal-seeking AM radio that automatically tunes in to radio broadcasts at the touch of the selector bar and stores stations for pushbutton listening.
Properly dated tinted glass filters out glare on the road ahead, and the outstanding example of American ingenuity and prosperity rolls on wheels with correct spinner hubcaps and 14-7.50 whitewall tires.
