This custom 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air was built professionally by Ron Jones Garage in Windsor, CO. It was built to pay tribute to the Carrera Panamerican, the 6-day, 9-segment race across Mexico. The heart of this beast is a 472ci Cadillac engine paired with an automatic transmission. The drivetrain has been completely gone through to ensure reliability and functionality. An electronic power steering system has been installed for easy maneuverability. It is finished in Spies Hecker paint and the lettering on the car was hand-painted with the Panamerican theme in mind. The interior is a combination of black leather and Pendleton Mexican blankets for true authenticity.
There is also a one-off steering wheel cut out of billet aluminum accompanied by Dakota Digital gauges. Named the 'Tijuana Iguana,' this car made its debut at Goodguys Pleasanton in 2019, winning Editor's Choice, as well as a Builder's Choice from Pinkee's in Loveland, CO, the same year.
