Owning a 1955 Cadillac was a statement of success and an accomplishment that was unchallenged. Cadillac’s many features—from the “Florentine Curve” and Dagmar bullets to the powerful V-8 engines and high performance to the miles of chrome and flashy styling—made them the top choice for a new generation of buyers.

The current owner of this particular Cadillac has cherished the car for 27 years, after having acquired it from an early classic car collector and colleague of Leo Gephardt, Bob Adams. The owner purchased the car as a remarkable, exceptionally original example, and he has preserved the car in that state ever since. We understand that the interior, top, brightwork, trim, and virtually everything else on the car are original and unrestored, down to the stunning Sabre wheels. The paint may have required some touch-up work over the years, and certainly mechanical maintenance work was undertaken, as needed, but overall, the car presents exceptionally well.

The odometer currently indicates a mileage of about 49,000, of which the owner has added about 50 miles per year during his ownership. Most recently, he took the car out for this photo shoot and reported back on the car’s superior driving dynamics.

At times, a complete restoration of a motor car results in the loss of a certain feeling of originality and factory-correctness, which is very difficult to replicate, from the shutting of the doors to the feeling of driving the car on the open road. Not only has this stunning Cadillac never required complete restoration, its original colors of black over red, in and of themselves, are extremely desirable and make this car highly attractive from both standpoints.
