The Cadillacs produced following World War II benefited from the company’s wartime experience producing defense material. When passenger car production resumed in October 1945, advertising boasted that cars were “Battle Powered” with “Victory” engines. Of great benefit was the real world stress-testing of engines and transmissions in combat. Although the 1946 Cadillac engines were of the same 346-cubic inch displacement as the prewar powerplants and had the same horsepower rating, many internal parts had been re-engineered for greater strength and reliability as a result of the wartime experience. The Hydra-Matic had been beefed up as well.

Bodies on the Series 75 Fleetwood cars were carried over from 1942 and rode on the same 136-inch wheelbase but with fewer body styles offered. As before, Imperial sedans with the division window were offered in seven-passenger configuration. Nine-Passenger Business Sedans, both with and without division, were offered, primarily for funeral and livery markets. Like other 1947 Cadillacs, the Series 75 received a new five-bar grille, script logos on the front fenders and a new winged crest on the deck lid.

This 1947 Cadillac Series 75 Limousine is an impressive original car with 27,000 miles indicated, which is strongly believed to be actual mileage. It is completely unrestored except for a repaint performed in the 1960s and bumper re-chroming that was done some time later. The original owner had retained this Cadillac at least until the 1960s. At that time, the original paint was cracking and peeling, and we are told he actually brought it back to Cadillac demanding a warranty repaint. It still retains its original Pink-Grey interior upholstery down to the rugs. It is equipped with power windows, wide whitewall tires and sombrero-style hubcaps and fender skirts. This Cadillac would make a nice tourer and certainly would be a perfect addition to any parade or wedding fleet.
