Introduced in 1998, the E39 generation BMW M5 combined refined executive comfort with genuine sports car performance and is widely regarded as one of the best balanced performance saloons of its time. Considered the last of the analogue M cars, the E39 M5 represents the end of an era before the introduction of electronic driver aids and paddle shift gearboxes, offering an unfiltered driving experience prized by enthusiasts and collectors alike. Powered by BMW’s 4.9-litre S62 V8 producing 394bhp and 369lb/ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, providing an engaging and rewarding driving experience.
Finished in Carbon Black Metallic over black leather, this E39-series M5 was supplied new by Park Lane BMW. The original owner retained the M5 until it was acquired by the our vendor in 2021 at around 82,000 miles along with the original service records showing 12 stamps, mostly by main dealers. Our vendor then set about carrying out a refresh and there are invoices in the history file from mid-2021 totalling nearly £5,000 including uprated B8 Bilstein shock absorbers, drilled discs, fast road Yellow Stuff pads, new screens front and rear, bushes and suspension work, instrument cluster, fluids, servicing and more.
The indicated mileage at the time of cataloguing was 86,830 and the current MOT is valid until 02/12/2026. With lower mileage examples of E39 M5s being increasingly difficult to find, we welcome your interest and inspection of this cherished example.
